5 Tips for Packing Your Luggage

There you are, standing in your bedroom. You've picked your destination, planned your vacation, and plane tickets are booked. Now, the time has come. It's time to start…packing. Packing for a triphas its perks, and challenges, no matter how seasoned you are! Where to start? What to pack? How much to stuff to cram per bag? If I sit on my luggage, then will it actually zip shut? But, as with every challenge, there is a solution.

So I've decided to share a few tips that I've learned, on how to better pack your luggage and travel essentials. Here are my top five pieces of advice for packing your luggage!

  1. Make a Packing List.

I have found this to be one of the best ways to get organized when I'm torn over what to pack. Jotting down a list not only makes it so you're less likely to forget something, but it also helps to prevent overpacking, because you're giving yourself a visual on what to prioritize fitting into your luggage.

  2. Roll Your Clothes.

Rolling your clothes is an absolute game-changer! This trick compacts each piece of clothing, maximizing the amount of space you have in your luggage. So don't be shy—you can go ahead and pack that extra pair of shoes you were hoping to fit in!

  3. Put Liquids in a Bag.

Air pressure changes are inevitable when you're traveling in the air, which means your shampoo bottle simply can't be trusted. Putting all your liquids in sealable bags guarantees that you won't be unpacking a goopy mess of clothes at the hotel.

  4. Wear Your Bulkiest Items on the Plane.

Sometimes I just can't part with my Dr. Martens. If you're going to pack a chunky shoe or heavy coat, don't: ust wear it on the plane! Wearing your bulkiest items while traveling ensures that you have enough space in your suitcase for other hot commodities.

  5. Never "Check" Essentials.

Airports aren't perfect, and though it doesn't happen often, sometimes luggage does get lost. When you're packing for a trip, make sure to put your most important essentials (wallets, cell phones, passports, Dr. Martens…) in your carry-on. That way, you woun't be in such  a pinch should it take a couple of extra days for your luggage to arrive.

Bonus! Start with Luggage That Suits You.

Here's a bonus tip for my favorite readers! Saving space is a great way to improve your packing process, but it also helps to have a great bag from the beginningh. The products of our BRIC'S Capri Collection are super lightweight and constructed of durable, flexible, ultra-light polycarbonate. The Capri is also offered in both matte and reflective shine finishes and features full-grain Tuscan leather trim. But the best part is the variety of sizes of luggage this collection offers. So go ahead—pick a size that fits your packing and traveling needs!
